21st Annual Carolinas Classic All-Star Basketball Games Headed Back to Wilmington

Top high-school basketball players from N.C., S.C. to face off in state-versus-state games

Hosted by the North Carolina Coaches Association and the South Carolina Athletic Coaches Association, the 2019 Carolinas Classic All-Star Basketball Games are headed back to Wilmington this March for the second year in a row. The games are sponsored by House of Raeford Farms FLOCK, the nonprofit arm of House of Raeford Farms, with all ticket sale proceeds benefiting Access of Wilmington, which includes The Miracle League, FIT and PROJECT SOAR.

North Carolina’s top high-school senior boys and girls will face off against South Carolina’s top players during this year’s Carolinas Classic. The players will be in Wilmington from March 21 – 23, with the boys’ and girls’  games taking place consecutively beginning at 6 p.m. on March 23 at John T. Hoggard High School. The North Carolina and South Carolina Coaches Associations will announce specific participants at the beginning of 2019.

“It’s an honor to have the Carolinas Classic games return to Wilmington. Watching high-school athletes at the top of their game compete in basketball is exciting to experience, and we’re proud to be able to showcase it,” said Shell Dula and Phil Weaver, executive directors of the South Carolina and North Carolina Coaches’ Associations respectively. “They’re not only some of the best athletes in the Carolinas, many are active members of our communities and excel both on the court and in the classroom.”

All participating athletes will participate in community service events, including visits to the children’s hospital at New Hanover Regional Medical Center and New Hanover County elementary schools, and host a baseball game at The Miracle League of Wilmington field on the morning of Saturday, March 23. During this event, each player will be buddied up with a child from The Miracle League Program who is living with a disability.

“One of the core pillars of House of Raeford Farms FLOCK is youth development. Our goal is to encourage our youth to become productive and positive members of society through active community involvement,” said House of Raeford CEO Bob Johnson. “The volunteer activities over the course of the weekend provide these athletes a chance to get involved in significant causes off the court.”

As part of its sponsorship, FLOCK will donate all tournament proceeds to Access of Wilmington, whose mission is to develop recreational programs and partnerships throughout southeastern North Carolina to facilitate inclusive activities for children, adults and veterans with disabilities and their families.

Tickets for the tournament games are $10 for adults and $5 for children and students. Tickets and schedule information are available at this link.
