Sunday Brunch Fried Chicken and Waffles
Total Time: 25-30 minutes
Prep: 10 minutes
Cook: 15-20 minutes
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon granulated white sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
pinch of salt
3/4 cup buttermilk
2 tablespoons butter or oil for greasing
Fried chicken breasts
- Preheat waffle iron.
- Sift flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl. Mix together.
- Whisk together vanilla extract, buttermilk, and egg in a small bowl.
4. `Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Stir to combine. Batter will be lumpy. Do not overstir.
- Brush the waffle iron with butter or oil. Pour enough batter to cover the waffle grid and cook until golden brown on both sides – approx. 3-5 minutes.
Serve with fried chicken and syrup.
Tip: Grease the waffle iron well before making each waffle for less sticking and easier clean up.
