It is almost unheard of in today’s workplace, when an individual celebrates five decades employed by the same company. However, that is just what happened at three House of Raeford Farms’ divisions in the past year.
Margaret Blackman
Margaret Blackman, a valued member of the Rose Hill, NC processing operation, reached her 50th year of employment with House of Raeford in May of 2023. Currently serving as a paw grader, Margaret has worked in the box room, thigh packing, and as a supervisor in the cut-up department. Reflecting on her journey, Margaret emphasizes the genuine camaraderie she shares with her colleagues and the sense of fulfillment she derives from her work each day. She shared that she “loves the people she works with and always feels good getting up and coming to work.”
Sandra Torrans
Similarly, Sandra Torrans also celebrated her golden anniversary last year. Starting as a box counter in 1973 at the Rose Hill facility, she progressed through the production ranks in the shipping department and as a debone supervisor. Her transition to roles in sales, corporate marketing, and ultimately, the corporate credit department in 2008, underscores House of Raeford’s commitment to nurturing talent and providing opportunities for growth and advancement.
L-R: Patsy Elmore (HR Manager); Mary Barber; Randy Crapps (Plant Manager)
Lastly, we recognize Mary Barber from House of Raeford’s West Columbia, SC location who reached the notable 50-year milestone in January of 2024. Currently serving as a stock room clerk, Mary’s career characterizes her versatility and dedication. From debone and quality control to the supply room, Mary’s willingness to embrace diverse roles reflects her unwavering dedication to excellence.
Beyond these remarkable individuals, House of Raeford takes immense pride in its extensive roster of long-serving employees. With over 70 individuals boasting 30 years or more with the company, and over 150 employees surpassing the 25-year mark, the company’s culture of loyalty and devotion shines brightly.
Bob Johnson, CEO and owner of House of Raeford, likes to reflect on our associates this way. “You know the company buildings are just brick and mortar. However, what really makes this company is the people. We know everyone working with us. They are not just colleagues; they are our friends, our neighbors. We go to church with them and see them in the grocery store. This sense of community makes all the difference and forms the foundation of our success.”
As we commend the significant achievements of Margaret, Sandra, Mary, and so many others, we recognize and honor the enduring legacy of commitment and service that continues to distinguish House of Raeford and its employees.
