House of Raeford Farms – 70 years, Five Generations, One Enduring Legacy

2025 Christmas Parade – Wallace, NC

What began as a family farm in 1955 has grown through generations of chicken farmers and employees united by one mission: To Do the Right Thing in All Things That We Do. The company that later became House of Raeford Farms was founded as Nash Johnson & Sons’ Farms, born from a partnership of three growers and the town of Rose Hill to bring jobs to local citizens

It is hard to believe that our company is celebrating 70 years of history in 2025. As a child, I can remember being around my dad, grandfather, and uncle as they slowly grew our business from a few turkey farms to a hatchery, feed mill, and processing facility. Those early experiences shaped my belief that hard work and family values would always guide our company.

I never dreamed we would now be one of the top 10 chicken producers in the nation with eight processing locations and five live production operations. We celebrated the one-year anniversary of our most recent acquisition in Vienna and Oglethorpe, Georgia with a complete renovation of the plant, including updated equipment and a distinctive fresh look to the Vienna operation.

I am also pleased that we now have five generations of the Johnson and Beasley families that have worked in the business as my granddaughter, ViviAnn Johnson, joined our Human Resources team this year. Family-owned, family-operated, and family-oriented.

Poultry is a labor-intensive industry, and our employees’ commitment is unmatched. We greatly appreciate each individual associate and the dedication they exhibit each day. Their willingness to succeed makes all the difference.

Our focus on the welfare of the chickens we raise has never been higher. The farmers we partner with are devoted to doing everything possible to produce healthy, well cared for birds.

We deeply value our loyal commercial customers, whether in the retail, food service, institutional, or export markets. Our company is resolute in meeting their changing needs. We also appreciate the consumers who continue to take advantage of our online pre-order sales, purchasing directly from House of Raeford at substantial savings on their food budget.

Since our founding, giving back to local communities has been a hallmark of House of Raeford. Through our nonprofit organization, House of Raeford Farms FLOCK, we address hunger relief, youth development, mental health, and addiction recovery.

Our locations donated hundreds of thousands of pounds of chicken products to support food insecure families. This Thanksgiving alone, we donated over 270,000 pounds of chicken – a tradition that embodies our mission to serve.

We gave monetary donations to many nonprofit organizations like Camp Corral who bless the children of our fallen or ill military heroes, and provided funding for the student mental health program of a North Carolina county school system. FLOCK also touched the lives of the elderly, children in foster care, the homeless, those facing addiction recovery, and so much more.
