Our mission at House of Raeford Farms is “to do the right thing in all things that we do”. Driven by love and compassion for others, our nonprofit organization House of Raeford Farms FLOCK seeks to walk alongside the folks who are already doing great work in their communities and support them in their mission.
Our FLOCK Cares program is expanding to Greenville, South Carolina and other areas that comprise our Greenville Complex. The program, which started in the company’s West Columbia, South Carolina location and later expanded to North Carolina, honors those who serve, often without any recognition. These individuals are dedicated to assisting their fellow citizens without regard to age, gender, race, economic background or any of those areas that often divide us. They may run into a burning building to save a life; or spend extra time teaching a child who has a learning disability; or be an example of integrity and commitment to co-workers in a House of Raeford location.
Individuals we acknowledge may be a teacher, firefighter, law enforcement officer, healthcare worker, local House of Raeford employee, or any other individual who has demonstrated an exceptional sacrifice to others. School administrators, fire and police chiefs, EMS supervisors, town administrators, church leaders, House of Raeford managers, and others guide FLOCK in their selections.
Curtis Carr, House of Raeford Director of Community Outreach, and Master Deputy Travis Rankin
This month our Greenville FLOCK team is pleased to honor individuals who serve with the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO). Nominated by superiors, Master Deputy Travis Rankin has made a tremendous impact on the lives of the community he serves as the Area 4 community deputy. He makes numerous contacts with the public, listens to their complaints, offers solutions and takes action that has improved the lives of the people he serves. He solves the vast majority of these grievances through proactive law enforcement. Captain Cheryl Cromartie describes Rankin this way, “He is a fantastic leader who frequently assists other officers with their cases and is always quick to volunteer for special assignments. Master Deputy Rankin is a prime example of what community policing should look like.”
Curtis Carr, Deputy Tanya Joy, and Greenville County Sheriff Hobart Lewis
Also chosen was Deputy Tanya Joy who serves as Community Engagement Officer for the Sheriff’s office, carrying out her duties with pride, grit, and enthusiasm. Driven by her Christian faith, she believes in helping others by actively engaging them with innovative and creative ideas. Tanya started a dance club for young women with support from a local dance studio and other businesses. Deputy Joy organized “Shop with a Cop” to give several children an unforgettable Christmas experience. She manages social media for the Sheriff’s department to give the public access to pertinent community information. “Deputy Joy cares a great deal about the agency, the community, and her role,” said Sgt. Conrad Mansel with GCSO Community Services/Public Affairs. “Her relentless work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to selflessly serve the community makes Deputy Joy a deserving selection for the FLOCK Cares award.”
Each award recipient received a monetary gift card and plaque to show our appreciation for their caring support of others. FLOCK is an acronym that stands for Faithful Love Offering for Christ’s Kingdom. FLOCK Cares rests on the scripture from John 15:13, which says, “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends”. Through FLOCK, we help those called to do good, do more.
