FLOCK Cares Honors Individual Dedicated to Feeding the Children

Turner Rivenbark

So often, we find someone who gives of himself unselfishly and tirelessly, but stays behind the scenes not seeking any recognition.    This perfectly describes the late Turner Rivenbark, 83, of Wallace, North Carolina and one of the November/December FLOCK Cares honorees.  For several years, Turner served as coordinator for Feed the Hungry Children BackPack ministry in Duplin County.  He organized food resources and a team of volunteers each week to pack a collection of non-perishable foods for children to take home with them over the weekend.  Often these kids do not receive a nourishing meal when they are not in school.  Turner, always humble and walking in a spirit of grace, was committed to blessing these children through BackPack Buddies. Unfortunately, he went to be with the Lord before FLOCK could honor him.  However, several of his co-volunteers in the ministry gathered recently.  Tom Teachey of FLOCK presented a distinctive plaque, unique crystal remembrances for Turner’s two children and a donation check to representatives of Duplin Christian Outreach Ministry (DCOM), an affiliate with the BackPack Buddies program.  FLOCK also presented a gift card to Jim Perry, the new coordinator of the outreach.

In addition to recognizing Turner, FLOCK Cares also honored Candi Gonzalez, Office Manager for the Wallace branch of Graybar Chiropractic.  Candi is not only an awesome employee but also an awesome person in the community.  She has been with Graybar since 2004 and has held many positions throughout her employment. Candi is truly the definition of a team player, always willing to go over and above to help wherever needed.  She has a pure and compassionate heart in helping others in our area, as well as in her native country of Honduras. Whether a family needs clothing, food or even a place to live, Candi is always willing to assist finding the means and necessities to help.

“Candi is a tremendous asset to Graybar Chiropractic and a blessing to work with,” shared Crystal Ward, Chief Operations Officer.  “Truly an angel on earth to so many and always with a beautiful smile.”

The final honoree was Debbie Fredrick, Quality Control Supervisor for House of Raeford’s Rose Hill, North Carolina processing operation.  She is responsible for SQF (Safe Quality Food) and Animal Welfare audits as well as special projects throughout the facility.  Employed by the Company for 39 years, Debbie exhibits a positive attitude and willingness to take on any project. She takes ownership of or assists with any task, serving on various committees within the company and the community over the years.

“Debbie is a terrific member of our team,” said Nicole Reynolds, Plant Manager.  “I know I can count on her to complete all assignments in a timely, accurate, and professional manner. She is a joy to work with! Also, all office staff hold her in high regard and know they can count on her as well.”
