As 2023 ends for House of Raeford Farms, we look back on a year filled with both accomplishments and challenges. Fortunately, chicken continues to be the protein of choice for consumers, allowing our company to maintain a positive level of success as we provide safe, quality, good tasting products.
The poultry industry is a labor-intensive business, requiring a high level of commitment from our employees. We greatly appreciate each individual associate and the dedication they exhibit each day. Their willingness to succeed makes all the difference.
Our focus on the welfare of the chickens we raise has never been higher. The farmers we partner with are devoted to doing everything possible to produce healthy, well cared for birds. Their attention to strict biosecurity guidelines has been critical as the poultry industry continues to deal with Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza. In addition, efficient and timely support from our breeding operations, hatcheries, feed mills, veterinarians, nutritionists and others continues to allow our live production operations to prosper.
We deeply value our loyal customers, whether in the retail, foodservice, institutional, or export markets. Our company is resolute in meeting their changing needs. We also appreciate the consumers who have taken advantage of our online preorder sales, purchasing directly from House of Raeford at substantial savings to their food budget.
At House of Raeford Farms, our mission is to do the right thing in all things that we do. One way we live our mission is by helping those who serve others in their communities expand their reach. Through FLOCK, House of Raeford’s non-profit arm, we help those called to do good, do more. Our outreach includes support for children with special needs; feeding the hungry by providing thousands of meals to those in need; providing summer camp experiences for children of wounded, ill, or fallen military heroes; support for those dealing with addiction, mental illness, and homelessness; and so much more. In addition, the Company just completed its 10-year anniversary of the House of Raeford Scholarship program, funding $375,000 to deserving students who are dependent children and grandchildren of our employees.
Finally, we said goodbye to several of our long-tenured managers and key personnel this year who decided to retire and enter a new season in their lives. We certainly wish them the very best and thank each one for their dedicated service to House of Raeford. Fortunately, we have capable individuals on staff to step into these positions and continue fulfilling our mission. It is also rewarding for me to mention that 4th generation members of our Johnson and Beasley families are taking on more leadership roles in the company. And the 5th generation is waiting anxiously in the wings!
I am proud of all those whose contributions make House of Raeford successful, and appreciate God’s blessing over our employees, growers, customers, suppliers, FLOCK partners, and their families. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Bob Johnson, CEO, House of Raeford Farms
