Givin’ & Golfin’ tournament is a hole-in-one: House of Raeford Farms partnership benefits youth justice

House of Raeford Farms FLOCK is joining forces with Trails End Golf Course in Arcadia, LA to advocate for youth justice as an event sponsor of the 2017 Givin’ & Golfin’ golf tournament on Oct. 21.

The event raises money for the Volunteers for Youth Justice CASA Program, or Court Appointed Special Advocates, which specially trains community volunteers appointed by a judge to represent the best interests of children in need in the courtroom.

In addition to a monetary donation of $1,000, House of Raeford is providing a chicken dinner for approximately 200 people.

“This partnership is a hole-in-one,” says Mitzi Gaddy, quality assurance manager at House of Raeford and FLOCK volunteer. “It’s all about the kids.”

Since the first Louisiana CASA program began in 1986, thousands of children have been helped.

“It is our goal to do all we can to support those on the front lines — those who are working to make a difference in the lives of so many children,” said Gaddy. “House of Raeford is proud to play a small role in helping them fulfill their mission.”

Funds raised at the tournament will go to training more CASA volunteers who will learn to be advocates, mentors and teachers for children who are victims of abuse and neglect. With the help of the program’s volunteers, the average time a child spends in foster care is cut in half.

The event kicks off with an 8 a.m. tee time. To register a team or sign up to volunteer, contact Loretta Womack at (318) 548-8654 or Mary McDonald at (318) 278-7208.
