Louisiana FLOCK Team Offers Encouragement to Foster Children

Arcadia FLOCK Team Gathers Supplies for Camp

House of Raeford Farms’ Arcadia, Louisiana location provides financial assistance along with special Christmas and birthday celebrations for the local Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) program.  CASA supports community volunteers who advocate for abused and neglected children in the child welfare system.

Because of this relationship, House of Raeford’s nonprofit FLOCK team in Arcadia connected with the Royal Family KIDS Camp (RFKC), a network of camps, children’s clubs, and child mentoring for abused, abandoned and neglected children in foster care environments.  By emphasizing the love of Jesus to these young people, the kids begin to appreciate their value, something many have never realized before.  For the past four summers, our volunteers have worked with the weeklong camp in Minden, Louisiana.

“We buy a blanket for each child’s bed at camp, and a couple of our employees will embroider them with the RFKC symbol to make it special,” explained Sara Byrd, FLOCK team member.  “The kids get mail every day that they are at camp, so FLOCK provides enough trinkets with fun sayings for each child to have something in their mailbag.  I was told by a camp counselor that this year our Whoopee Cushion was the big hit.”

Royal Family KIDS Camp fosters resiliency, self-esteem, hope and positive memories.  Unfortunately, one of the hurdles faced with these campers is food insecurity. Byrd continued, “As a way to help eliminate that fear of going hungry, counselors like to always have snacks available for the children so they do not feel the necessity to stash food away.  FLOCK provides a variety of goodies to supply this need.”

We are pleased our Arcadia FLOCK team together with all of our associates have taken the initiative to serve these local foster children through programs like RFKC and CASA.  In addition, we are working with the Boys and Girls Club in Arcadia.  It is making a difference in young lives.
