Top high school basketball players from North Carolina and South Carolina to face off

WILMINGTON, NC—February 19, 2025: The North Carolina Coaches Association and the South Carolina Athletic Coaches Association have announced the team rosters for the 2025 Carolinas Classic All-Star Basketball GamesHouse of Raeford Farms FLOCK, the non-profit arm of House of Raeford Farms, is sponsoring the event for the sixth consecutive year.

On March 22, the top public high school senior boys and girls from North Carolina and South Carolina will face off at John T. Hoggard High School in Wilmington, North Carolina. Tipoff for the Girls’ game will be 3:00 pm followed by the Boys’ game.

This year’s NC girls’ team features three players on their way to ACC universities: Kate Sears (Virginia Tech) is a product of Watauga High with 2,400 career points, ranked No. 2 in the state and in the top 100 nationally. Along with Caitlyn Jones (Wake Forest), Rolesville High, and Gabby White (University of Virginia), Seaforth High, all three women were 2025 McDonald’s All-American nominees.

On the boys’ side, the top six SC players in the state will be participating in the Classic:  Abijah Franklin (Wren High), Jordan Watford (Lancaster High), Tristan Thompson (Wilson High), Melvin Teal (Summerville High), Amare Anderson (Greer High), and Brian Sumpter (W. J. Keenan High). In addition, all 10 athletes on the NC boys’ team ranked top 100 in the state.

“We are honored to have the best high school basketball student-athletes from our states come to Wilmington. They will not only compete at a high level in their respective games but will be involved in outreach activities that touch youth and adults in the community,” said Scott Early and Phil Weaver, executive directors of the South Carolina and North Carolina coaches’ associations, respectively.

When the student-athletes are not practicing or playing, they will be participating in community service events, including visits to two New Hanover County elementary schools to interact with the kids and light up their day. The two boys’ teams will also volunteer at The Miracle League of Wilmington baseball field on the morning of Saturday, March 22. During this event, each player will buddy up with a child who is living with a disability. Miracle League is a program of Access of Wilmington, a nonprofit organization eliminating barriers to health and wellness through sports, recreation and fitness.

Proceeds from the game will benefit the SECU Family House in Wilmington. They provide convenient, safe, and affordable accommodations to family and loved ones of patients being cared for at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
